Patience, dear mortal!

Hoooboy…it’s high time for an update. Let’s dive right in!

Biggest news first! My short film Things We Dig is nearing the end of post production, woot!!! I’m probably driving my editor Peter Stoll mad by now, but he’s a trooper and doing amazing work! We’re also currently working with composer Eric Recourt on original score and soundtrack. It’s all coming together, slow and steady; and I have to pace myself, be patient and not rush things (as giddy as I can get sometimes…).

Since my last post, we’ve also set up the film’s IMDb page up, done ADR sessions, a photoshoot AND …we just unveiled the poster! If you followed us on fb, twitter or instagram, you’d probably already know all of this ;)

I’m super excited and can’t wait for this to get finished so I can unleash it upon the world!!!

What else? A bunch of other stuff happened, some of it gnarly, but I probably need to make that a separate post. Maybe. (Since this is WordPress and not Facebook, is this called vaguewording or vaguepressing, instead of vaguebooking? I like vaguepressing better. Being German, vaguewording is really hard for me to pronounce.. I’m being a punk, I know). Anyhoo. Sticking to film/acting related stuff for now.

In between my ‘thrival job’ and post-production for my short film,  I also did some work supporting local filmmaker friends, all rad people that I feel lucky to know:

I got to do some voice-acting for ‘Uncharted Regions‘, a series of weird-tales radio dramas produced by Sword and Circuitry Studios. Even though it was for background, it renewed my interest in voice work and reminded me how fun this kind of gig is! Plus, I got some use out of my German language skills for a little last minute improv. Thanks again for having me, Neal and Jana! I even wound up doing some BTS photos at a subsequent recording session. See more info about this cool project in the link above!

Several of my fellow female filmmakers took part in WOMAS (Women Making a Scene) earlier this summer and cast me in two of their projects. One of them was ‘The Delayers‘, directed by Susan Davis of Grudio Pictures. I’ve been wanting to work with her forever and it finally came to pass! Cherry on top: Playing a role that was all physical comedy. I love it!

Me in my element: acting like a clumsy person – not a big stretch ;)

The other WOMAS entry was ‘The Wandmaker‘, directed by my rad friend Deepti Kingra Mickelsen (who, incidentally, plays a naughty character in my short ‘Things We Dig’.)  I love it when we can all help each other out!

I’m also happy to report that both entries made it to the WOMAS finals in August! So proud of my sisters!

Enjoy Halloween season – my favorite time of the year!

I love how the laurels are starting to pile up! :) Congrats to all my cast and crew!

Whoa!

WE DID IT! We really friggin did it! And no, it’s not an April Fools joke! I had an angel investor (who would like to remain anonymous for now) swoop in at the last minute and help us make our Indigiegogo goal! I’m still pinching myself!

We reached our fundraising goal of $7000 thanks to YOU and your many contributions, big and small, your shares and posts on social media and support!!!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Because we reached the goal, Indiegogo just put us in the ‘InDemand‘ status! This is a big deal! What does it mean?

Well, for one, bragging rights! Indiegogo likes us and might even promote us from time to time. Most importantly, it also means people can still contribute and claim perks at their leisure, without any deadlines, until we decide to de-activate the Indiegogo campaign page! Basically, everything that is contributed to “Things We Dig” from now on will go towards post production costs such as film festival entry fees, marketing, etc.

I will keep the page updated as we move into all phases of film production and let you know how our little film progresses! We might even add new perks as they become available! If we do, I’ll let you know in our updates and in this blog as well.

In the meantime, you can also follow us on Twitter, Facebook and even Instagram(this one’s gonna be fun, cause it’s from the perspective of one of the film’s characters)!

So stay tuned and thanks again!
